Kaiser Idell 6718 clear coated scissor lamp

The Kaiser & Co. Leuchten KG company was founded in 1895 by Hermann Kaiser, a silversmith and industrial designer. Christian Dell, who headed the metalwork department at the Weimar Bauhaus for several years, designed a large range of lights (more than 500 models) with the idea to create interchangeable and strandardized parts of lamps. The Idell lamps (combination of ‘Dell’ and ‘Idea’) are viewed to this day as a design classic — a timeless ideal with a simple and clean avant-garde design, noble materials and an essential functionality.

The lamp has signs of wear consistent with its age and use and the shade a unique northworthy patina.

After the thorough dismantling cleaning rust removal
of all elements, the lamp was polished brushed
clear coated and built.
The lamp is engraved with Original Kaiser Idell on the shade.
The mechanical system of the lamp functions good but the scissor is a bit loose and doesn’t stays in closed position.

The electrical equipment was renewed and refurbished with a three-wire system and a black cloth coated cord was used.
The light is operated clockwise by a rotary switch located on the lamp socket.

The lamp can be easily attached to the wall with the wall-mount bracket and screws.
